Excel® Solver® Optimization is a general-purpose optimization problem-solver that is useful for small to midsize problems, and in some cases much larger problems. Excel solver uses a wide range of optimization technologies, including Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, or Non-linear Programming .

Frontline Systems, Inc. developed the solver used in Microsoft Excel and offers several upgrades and packages to extend the capabilities and performance of the standard Excel Solver.
